We provide educational facilities and services of any nature, whether for children or adults, in Nimbin and the surrounding districts.
The Nimbin Community School Co-operative was formed when the previous NSW government school stopped operating as a primary school in 1998. The intention was to continue providing open learning community-based resources, activities and facilities, which we have done now for the last 27 years.
As well as adult education courses, these have included providing a free venue for primary school holiday programs, after school art classes, and free meeting space for a wide array of local community organisations including the organic food co-op, Nimbin Environment Centre, Aquarius Foundation, Nimbin Health & Welfare, Radio Nim-FM etc.
Additionally, during natural disasters in the region, most recently in 2022, our co-op provided much needed facilities for local primary schools, like the Tuntable Falls School, which were inaccessible due to flood damage. Over the last 5 years, the co-op has financially supported an annual Resilience Award for two Year 6 students from the Nimbin Central School to help them transition to high school.
Due to changes in reporting requirements for not-for-profits, our cooperativegained charity status in 2018.
