The CWA Nimbin Branch is a lively, welcoming group of local women who enjoy being involved in our community and making a practical difference.
You’ll find us at the CWA Rooms in the heart of Nimbin, where we run our Op Shop and open our kitchen every Wednesday for affordable $5 community meals. On Nimbin Market days, we’re also well known for our traditional CWA scones with jam and cream.
Our branch raises funds to support local people and community projects, lends a hand when our community is doing it tough or experiencing disasters, and provides a place where women can meet, contribute, learn new skills and enjoy each other’s company.
Our important local work includes running our low cost Op Shop, holding community sewing days, catering for local events and wakes, and are a key responder under Nimbin’s Disaster Plan.
Our support extends well beyond the village, contributing to remote-area Op Shops, women’s refuges, State Disaster Funds, medical research and projects supporting orphanages in Papua New Guinea.
We’re also involved in the wider work of CWA of NSW, giving our small community a voice on issues affecting women, families and regional communities.
You don’t have to bake, knit or fit any particular mould to join the CWA. We welcome women of all ages and backgrounds who would like to meet people, get involved or simply find out what we’re about.
CWA Nimbin — community, connection and a good cuppa in the heart of the village.
The Country Women’s Association (CWA) has a long history of supporting women, families, and communities across regional Australia. Through advocacy, fundraising, and connection, the CWA works to improve conditions for country women and children, strengthen rural communities, and give a united voice to local issues in health, education, social wellbeing, and rural development.
Across NSW and the ACT, women from both country and city areas come together to socialise, share skills, raise funds, and help shape policies that are taken to state level. Members also enjoy cooking, handicraft, art and creative writing, and the chance to learn from one another.
