For the volunteer who never seems to run out of energy, always going and going and going.
Margaret McQuilty
Margaret McQuilty is the kind of volunteer who never seems to slow down — always going, always giving, and always with a smile. From countless hours supporting the Nimbin Hospital Auxiliary — collecting donations, running raffles and helping secure vital equipment for the hospital — to showing up again and again at the Showgrounds for events like MardiGrass and the Nimbin Show, Margaret’s energy is truly remarkable. Many in the community remember her as the warm and welcoming face of the medical centre, and she has continued that same spirit of care through decades of volunteering. People often say she is always up for a chat, always ready to help, and always thinking of others. Margaret is one of those people who quietly weaves the community together — present everywhere, supporting everyone, and never asking for recognition. A true Energizer Bunny, Margaret just keeps going… and Nimbin is all the better for it.
Heidi Glover
Heidi Glover has been the driving force behind Jungle Patrol at Nimbin MardiGrass for over two decades, coordinating volunteers, liaising with police and council, and somehow keeping the peace in one of the busiest and most complex events in the region. It’s a huge job, and people often speak about her remarkable ability to manage chaos with calm, diplomacy and instinct — somehow always knowing where to be and who to find in a sea of people. Beyond MardiGrass, Heidi also supports other major events and has recently been involved in beautifying Cullen Street, bringing colour, care and life into the heart of the village. Those who work alongside her describe her as a powerhouse — full of energy, deeply committed, and fiercely dedicated to her community. She shows up, takes responsibility, and keeps things moving no matter what’s thrown her way. Heidi is one of those rare people who holds it all together behind the scenes, making the impossible feel manageable. A true Energizer Bunny, she just keeps going — and our community is safer, brighter and stronger because of it.
Triny Roe
Triny Roe has been a driving force behind the Nimbin Environment Centre for many years, serving as Secretary, shop manager and a constant presence holding the organisation together. She manages communications, takes minutes, coordinates volunteers and keeps the NEC shop running — a vital source of funding and community engagement. Beyond the NEC, Triny contributes across multiple organisations including NIM-FM, Landcare groups and the Nimbin Good Times, where she shares her knowledge on environmental issues and regeneration. People describe her as incredibly efficient, knowledgeable and generous with her time, always supporting both people and projects. From hands-on environmental work to organising, educating and campaigning, Triny brings energy, commitment and heart to everything she does. A true Energizer Bunny, she just keeps going — and lifts the whole community with her.
Wil Polson
Wil Polson is a born-and-bred Nimbin local who has grown up with a strong volunteer spirit and deep commitment to his community. As President of the Nimbin Community Centre, alongside his full-time work with Lismore City Council advocating for Nimbin, and his involvement with the Tropical Fruit Festival, Wil is constantly contributing across multiple fronts. People describe him as someone who is always engaged, always giving his time and energy to support the community and keep things moving forward. His involvement spans leadership, advocacy and hands-on contribution, often all at once. Wil is one of those people who never seems to stop — showing up, stepping in and making things happen. A true Energizer Bunny, his energy and dedication are felt right across the Nimbin community.
