Following the departure of long-standing managers, a new committee stepped in to take on the Nimbin Bowlo, facing far more than they could have anticipated. As a small team of five, they have carried the full responsibility of running a licensed venue with gaming machines, requiring extensive training, compliance, and ongoing oversight. People say the hours have been relentless, with countless weeks of behind-the-scenes work to keep the doors open. Despite setbacks and constant pressure, they have remained committed to maintaining the Bowlo as a vital community space. For their resilience, dedication, and extraordinary volunteer effort, this group is a truly deserving recipient of the Golden Gumboot Award.
