Rainbow Lorikeet Award — Meet the nominees

For the volunteer who lights up every room with their positivity and joy, bringing colour and happiness wherever they go. The one who knows everyone and naturally connects people.

Marc Le Bars
Marc Le Bars is a Nimbin volunteer who has been running the Breakfast Club at Nimbin Central School for over 10 years, making sure young people start their day with food, energy, and a smile. People say he brings a constant, cheerful presence, always ready with a joke, a song, and genuine care for each student. Over the years, he has become a familiar and trusted figure, whose steady support has made a real difference in the lives of many young people. Beyond the school, he has also given his time at the Nimbin Bowlo, helping keep this important community space open and welcoming. Marc is one of those people who gives quietly, lifts those around him, and leaves every place a little brighter.

Janene Shoppee
Janene Shoppee is one of the founding creators of the Nimbin Food Pantry, helping ensure that those most in need in the community do not go hungry. People say her organisational skills, steady commitment, and cheerful nature have been central to the pantry becoming the success it is today. She works quietly and consistently, showing genuine compassion and sincerity in the way she supports others. Her joy and positive energy lift the spirits of those around her, from the soup kitchen to the colourful chalk art that brightens the space. A true Rainbow Lorikeet, Janene brings warmth, care, and a quiet light to everyone she meets.

Aline Binetruy
Aline Binetruy is a Nimbin volunteer who contributes across the Chamber of Commerce, the Nimbin Central P&C, and previously Nimbin Women in Business, along with a strong involvement in the Nimbin Interagency. People say she is often the first to put her hand up and the one who follows through, bringing both reliability and heart to everything she does. She has a natural ability to connect people and is building links between the school and the wider business community. Known for her warmth, positivity, and generous spirit, she makes others feel seen and brings a sense of ease wherever she goes. A true Rainbow Lorikeet, Aline brings colour, joy, and connection to the Nimbin community. #awards2026
